KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A Tennessee man is charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting a motorcyclist several times and backing his SUV into another — after almost hitting them as they exited an interstate.
The Knox County Sheriff's Department said Tuesday that Rodney Lee Scott was jailed on a $1 million bond. A sheriff's office spokeswoman did not know if Scott had a lawyer.
Police say when the motorcyclists began waving their arms after Scott nearly hit them, first he made obscene gestures, then stopped his SUV in the street and backed into one of them, knocking him over.
Scott fled the scene. The bikers called police and followed Scott to his house, where police say he came out shooting, hitting Tyler Lakin four times. Lakin was in stable condition at a hospital.
