Police take steps to ensure woman suspected in Indiana murder, infant kidnapping does not flee

Police are taking precautions to ensure a woman suspected of killing an Indiana mother in order to steal her infant daughter doesn't flee a hospital in Texas where she is being treated for depression.

Anderson, Indiana Police Sgt. Chad Boynton wouldn't elaborate Sunday on those precautions. He says no charges have been filed against the woman in Texas and the investigation into the death of Samantha Fleming is still in its early stages.

Police believe the woman posed as a child welfare worker and lured Fleming to Gary, Indiana in order to kidnap her 3-week-old daughter. Police say Fleming was fatally stabbed and her body wrapped in plastic. The child, Serenity, was found unharmed at the house Friday and has been returned to relatives in Indianapolis.
