DETROIT – The fiancee of a man who police say fired at and wounded four Detroit police officers before being fatally shot says allegations that the 38-year-old was involved in a sexual attack on a minor are false.
Stephanie Freeman tells the Detroit Free Press for a story published Thursday that she was to marry Lamar Moore, her boyfriend of 10 years, on Valentine's Day. The 40-year-old on Wednesday toured the charred remains of the home where she and Moore had lived. She says she and their 4-year-old son played there last week.
Authorities say Tuesday's fire that gutted the home was no accident.
Detroit police say Moore was being investigated in a sexual attack on a minor, but authorities stress they won't speculate on his motive in the shooting on Sunday.
