Police search home of slain ex-Pentagon official
NEW CASTLE, Del. – Police have searched the Delaware home of a slain former Pentagon official whose body was found in a landfill.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that crime scene investigators spent about three hours inside the home of John Wheeler III on Tuesday in New Castle and left with a large paper bag and several manila envelopes. Newark police spokesman Lt. Mark Farrall would only confirm that investigators were at the house.
Wheeler's body was found among trash being dumped at the landfill on Dec. 31. He was seen on surveillance cameras wandering around Wilmington two days before his body was found. A medical examiner determined that Wheeler died of blunt trauma injuries after being assaulted.
