Police in Central California say they found a family of four dead inside a home.

Police say officers made the discovery at the home in Turlock around 10 p.m. Thursday after a family member called to report that the four had not been seen or heard from.

Turlock police spokeswoman Mayra Lewis told the Modesto Bee the victims are a man in his 70s, his wife, in her 60s, and their two adult sons, aged 35 to 40. She says the bodies were found in various places in the house.

Lewis said a preliminary investigation has determined the four died in a murder-suicide, although it was not immediately clear how they died.

Police did not release their names and said there was no danger to the community.
