Police say a San Diego coffee house clerk was scalded when a customer threw a cup of hot water at her.

The victim was treated at a hospital for burns to her face and chest. Police arrested 58-year-old Dennis Christopher Lee for investigation of battery after the Thursday morning attack at Starbucks at Horton Plaza.

Police say Lee entered the coffee house and asked for a cup of hot water, which is free.

Police say he walked over to the condiment table and started taking some items. Officer Frank Cali told City News Service that Lee threw the water at the victim when she told him the condiments were for paying customers only.

Lee was being held on $8,000 bail. Arraignment was scheduled Monday.
