Police are investigating whether powerful wind gusts played a role in the death of a man who fell off the roof of a 7-story office building in New Jersey.

The building manager at the Glenpointe office complex in Teaneck was found on the ground around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Detective Capt. John Faggello tells The Record (bit.ly/22XWLZu) newspaper authorities believe the 56-year-old had gone up to the roof to check for damage from the strong winds overnight. Police are investigating whether he was blown off the roof and hit a tree in the fall.

The National Weather Service recorded a peak wind gust in the area of 32 mph around the time of the accident.

His name has not been released because police were still notifying relatives.
