Police: Phoenix man killed wife, lived with dead body for days before calling authorities

PHOENIX – PHOENIX (AP) — Police are investigating a bizarre killing in Phoenix after a husband allegedly shot and killed his wife with a handgun and lived with her dead body since Friday.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson says a 56-year-old man called police Tuesday and said he shot his wife.

Officers who arrived at the home found the body of 66-year-old woman inside.

Thompson said the husband apparently shot himself in the face Friday in what appears to have been a failed murder-suicide attempt.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment and will be booked into jail later. The names of the man and woman have not been released.
