Police: One Officer Killed, Two Injured in South Dakota Shootout

One police officer has been killed and two wounded in a shootout with a man in Rapid City, S.D.

Police Chief Steve Allender says the officers were shot Tuesday afternoon. At least one officer returned fire and the suspect was struck.

Allender says the shooting began after three officers "came into contact with a group of four people." At some point, he said, the suspect pulled a gun.
