Police: Officer shoots, injures 2 in Maryland; officials tweet photo of gun, say it's on scene

Police say an officer shot and injured two people in Upper Marlboro, and officials have released a photo of a gun they say they recovered on the scene.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Maria McKinney says the officer involved was not injured in the shooting late Tuesday morning McKinney says she doesn't yet have details about the situation surrounding the shooting.

Police tweeted a photo of a gun on the ground surrounded by broken glass with what appears to be blood on it, saying the gun was one of two recovered from two armed suspects at the scene.

Local television showed police investigators working at a scene in a parking lot.
