Police: North Carolina Shooting Was Murder-Suicide
Police in North Carolina said Sunday that the three women and one man found dead by the side of a road were the victims of a murder-suicide, the News and Observer reported.
Police in Durham, N.C., responded to a report of shots fired shortly after 12:00am Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the bodies of three women inside a parked vehicle and the body of a man outside the vehicle.
All the victims, who were aged 22 to 24, had suffered gunshot wounds.
"He shot them, then shot himself," Durham County Sheriff Worth Hill told The News and Observer on Sunday.
Investigators initially said they were apparently targeted, rather than victims of a random incident.
Hill said police have a theory about what led to the apparent murder-suicide, but did not go into detail.
Durham police said they will release more information about the incident Monday.
