BROCKTON, Mass. – Police in Massachusetts say a woman kidnapped her two children from their father's home by falsely claiming she was a police officer and pepper-spraying the kids' caretaker.
The Enterprise reports (http://bit.ly/1gQ8x5H ) that Bruna Gomes was arraigned Friday in Brockton District Court on several charges, including parental kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and impersonating a police office.
Her bail was set at $25,000.
Police say the 33-year-old Gomes kidnapped the children from their father's Abington apartment Thursday.
An Amber Alert was issued, and Gomes was arrested later in the day on Cape Cod. The children were reunited with their father.
A defense attorney says Gomes has legal custody of the children and disputed characterization of it as a kidnapping.
