DETROIT – Police say the body of a man found stabbed to death in a vacant Detroit home is that of an 86-year-old whose family says he won about $20,000 in a lottery game last year.
Officer Adam Madera tells The Detroit News that a body found Sunday was that of Arthur Neal and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Neal was last seen at his home on Dec. 20. A granddaughter, Lawanda Marshall, had said he wouldn't have missed Christmas with his family. She says he won approximately $20,000 in a lottery game but wouldn't suddenly leave town because of it.
The newspaper says it's unknown if the lottery ticket was a factor in the case. Madera says police haven't found that a winning $20,000 ticket was cashed.
