FORT LEE, N.J. – Authorities say a New Jersey motorist assumed his brother's identity after he was stopped for not paying a toll on the George Washington Bridge.
A spokesman for Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police says officers arrested the man after finding cocaine in his pocket on June 15 and he was released with a court date.
The spokesman, Joe Pentangelo (pehn-TAN'-jeh-loh), says officers soon realized the man had produced a fictitious ID with his photo and his brother's name to avoid $7,500 in unpaid tolls.
State police arrested the suspect on Wednesday in Bellmawr.
Authorities have charged 44-year-old Richard Boyce with wrongful impersonation, theft, hindering apprehension and cocaine possession.
It is not known if he has a lawyer who can comment on the charges.
