Police: Man holed up in room of downtown Minneapolis hotel where journalists convention held

Minneapolis police are in a standoff with a man who is holed up in a downtown hotel where a national convention of journalists is being held.

Police spokesman John Elder says the man was holed up in a room Thursday afternoon. He says rooms around him have been evacuated.

Elder says there is no threat to public safety. No other details were released.

The National Association of Black Journalists is holding its convention at the hotel.
