TAYLOR, Pa.-- Authorities say a man hired a car service to drive him 300 miles to kill a romantic rival and then killed himself inside the car when Pennsylvania police pulled it over.

Officials tell The Times-Tribune of Scranton that 47-year-old Angelo Rizzuto hired the service to drive him from Culpeper, Va., to Taylor, Pa.

In Taylor on Thursday evening, authorities say, Rizzuto killed his ex-girlfriend's fiance, then told the hired driver to take him to New York City. Officers soon tracked down the Lincoln Town Car on Interstate 80 and pulled it over. That's when investigators say Rizzuto fatally shot himself.

Lackawanna County Assistant District Attorney Gene Talerico says the driver wasn't complicit in the killing of 53-year-old David Jones.

The Times-Tribune says Rizzuto's ex-girlfriend witnessed the shooting and called police.
