Police hunt for missing student in Wisconsin River

Emergency personnel are searching a river in central Wisconsin for a missing college student who may have accidently walked into the water.

Assistant Chief Brian Kudronowicz (kah-DRA'-nah-wihtz) says firefighters have taken to boats Monday in the search for 21-year-old Eric Duffey. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student disappeared early Saturday morning after a night out celebrating his 21st birthday.

Since then, police and volunteers have been scouring neighborhoods near downtown Stevens Point where Duffey was last seen. Stevens Point is located about 100 miles north of Madison.

Kudronowicz says Duffey may have walked into the river. He says alcohol could be a factor.
