Police say two officers fatally shot a man carrying a gun after he ignored orders to drop the weapon.

Orlando Police Sgt. Wanda Miglio said in a news release that officers responded early Sunday to reports of a man wearing dark clothes and carrying a "chrome firearm."

The officers made contact with suspect, who was black, and ordered him to put the weapon down. Police did not release his identity.

Police say the suspect refused those orders and raised the gun. Two officers shot and killed him.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident and both officers, who were not identified, are on administrative leave.

Police say the incident report and information about the officers, who were not injured, will be released Monday.
