Police arrest Utah man accused of chaining son, 6, to metal bed while father worked

Police in Utah have arrested a man accused of chaining his 6-year-old son to a bed while the man was at work.

Logan City Police Chief Gary Jensen says officers arrested the father Tuesday after finding the boy home alone with a chain attached to a metal bedframe padlocked to his ankle.

Jensen says the boy could access snacks and water and the chain was long enough that he could use the restroom.

Jensen says officers do not know if the abuse occurred before. They do not believe other children lived in the home.

Jensen says the boy initially appeared to be in relatively good health but the child was still being evaluated and is in the custody of child welfare services.

Police have not released details about the father.
