Police announce arrest in shooting death of businessman, philanthropist in Georgia

A 24-year-old man was arrested Sunday in the shooting death of a beloved businessman and philanthropist who was gunned down while he waited for his wife in a CVS parking lot, Georgia police announced.
DeMarvin Bennett, of East Point, Ga., was arrested Sunday in the death of Jack Hough, 73, an Air Force vet who was sitting in his car when he was fatally shot, Gainesville Police said.

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The arrest comforted Hough’s family, Gainesville Police Chief Jay Parrish said, according to FOX5 Atlanta.
“Mrs. Hough lost a wonderful husband, the community lost a wonderful man,” Parrish said. “I think they were relieved. I don’t think they can be happy at this time."
Investigators said Hough was shot twice during an apparent robbery attempt, FOX5 Atlanta reported. Hough struggled with the suspect before he was killed, police said.

Police found the gun they believed was used to kill Hough, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. He was taken into custody around 2 a.m. Sunday.
