A Philadelphia policeman who was severely wounded by a man who police say told them he was "following Allah" after he shot the officer at close range has left the hospital.

Philadelphia Police Department spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little says 33-year-old Officer Jesse Hartnett is resting at home. He was released from a Philadelphia hospital on Friday afternoon.

Hartnett is still recovering from his injuries after police say 30-year-old Edward Archer fired at the officer more than a dozen times on Jan. 7, hitting him three times in the arm. The four-year department veteran has had multiple surgeries.

Archer has been charged with attempted murder and is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Monday. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a terrorist attack.
