The parents of a 19-year-old woman who was shot on the porch of a suburban Detroit home say the man had no justification for his action.

Walter Ray Simmons called Theodore Wafer a "monster" who took the life of his daughter, Renisha McBride, "for no reason at all." McBride was shot after police say she was involved in a car accident nearby in Detroit.

The 54-year-old Wafer was charged Friday with second-degree murder, manslaughter and felony firearm charges. His lawyer says Wafer "has a very strong defense."

Simmons and McBride's mother held a news conference in Southfield with their lawyers.

Simmons says he would not accept an apology from Wafer, because his "daughter doesn't breathe no more and he does."
