Palm Beach airport evacuated after suspicious luggage found

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Palm Beach International Airport has been closed and evacuated after officials say a suspicious piece of luggage was found.

Palm Beach County sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said Friday afternoon that the bomb squad is examining the luggage. She says the airport will remain closed until the luggage is checked and secured. No further details were immediately available.

Palm Beach International has about 100 departures daily from 28 gates.

Airport spokeswoman Casandra Davis did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
