A veterinarian has admitted killing his pregnant lover and dumping her body in an eastern Pennsylvania nature preserve.

Thirty-one-year-old David Rapoport of Upper Gwynedd Township pleaded guilty Thursday in Lehigh County Court to two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 27-year-old Jennifer Snyder and their unborn baby.

Snyder's body was found in March in a ravine in Trexler Nature Preserve near Allentown.

Prosecutors say the married Rapoport was furious over Snyder's pregnancy and shot her three times — once in the back and twice in the head. She was in her first trimester and expecting a boy.

Rapoport was sentenced to two terms of life in prison. His guilty plea allowed him to avoid the death penalty, which the district attorney had planned to seek.
