Oregon softball coach charged with sexual abuse

A Milwaukie softball coach has been charged with sexually abusing one of his players.

The Oregonian reports 47-year-old Garry Allen Clausen was arrested Wednesday and arraigned Thursday in Clackamas County.

Clausen is accused of sexual involvement with a 16-year-old girl who played for a Mt. Hood Little League softball team he coached last year. He is charged with eight counts of second-degree sexual abuse. The incidents occurred in 2011.

The league president says Clausen coached in the Southeast Portland sports league for about seven years.

David Barrett says he was not shocked by the arrest since he and other coaches were concerned about relationships between Clausen and some of the girls on his team.
