OKLAHOMA CITY – Allegations that a volunteer at a Kenya orphanage engaged in sexual misconduct with children will be addressed next week in an Oklahoma City federal courtroom.
At the government's request, six alleged victims will testify in private. Prosecutors say Durham's family discussed packing the courtroom with supporters.
Jury selection is set for Tuesday in the trial of 20-year-old Matthew Lane Durham of Edmond. Durham volunteered at the Upendo Children's Home in Nairobi, Kenya, and faces 17 counts of sexual misconduct including aggravated sexual abuse and engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places.
The trial is expected to last a week.
Durham is accused of engaging in sex acts at the orphanage that specializes in assisting neglected Kenyan children. He has pleaded not guilty and faces a life term if convicted.
