A woman accused of decapitating her 3-month-old daughter has been indicted in southwest Ohio on a charge of aggravated murder.

A Hamilton County grand jury on Wednesday indicted 20-year-old Deasia (de-AY'-shuh) Watkins. Her arraignment is Thursday.

Defense attorney Michael Joseph Trapp says the grand jury action was expected. He has no further comment.

Watkins was arrested last week. Her daughter was found decapitated on a kitchen counter in the Cincinnati home of an aunt who was caring for her.

Authorities say Watkins appeared to be suffering from serious mental issues when police found her covered in blood in a bed at the aunt's home. Prosecutors say they won't seek the death penalty.

Authorities say 3-month-old Jayniah Watkins had been decapitated and stabbed multiple times with a large chef's knife.
