School dances are being temporarily banned at a high school in Ohio after "dirty dancing" photos from a recent homecoming dance surfaced on Facebook, FoxToledo.com reports.
The images in the photos, which reportedly went beyond club-style "bumping and grinding," prompted Bellevue City Schools Superintendent Kim Schubert to suspend future dances at Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Ohio.
Schubert said in a statement on Tuesday that all future dances at the school are suspended "until all parties have worked together to set clear expectations for students behavior."
The pictures, which were posted on the Bellevue Gazette's Facebook page on Monday, have since been removed at the superintendent's request. FoxToledo.com could not release the images due to copyright laws.
Some students and parents at the northwest Ohio high school claim school officials overreacted after viewing the images.
"I think what happened got blown out of proportion," Mariel Andrews, a senior at the school, told the station. "I think they could do things without being so dramatic about it."
