LOS ANGELES – A law enforcement official says an employee arrested after dry ice bombs exploded at the Los Angeles airport placed one of the devices that went off on the tarmac outside the international terminal while a plane was parked nearby.
The official, who was briefed on the investigation but not authorized to speak publicly, says 41-year-old Miguel Angel Iniguez admitted to setting a dry ice bomb that exploded Sunday outside gate 148 of the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
Iniguez was arrested Friday and booked on suspicion of possessing a destructive device near an aircraft. He's held on $500,000 bail.
Iniguez, a Servisair supervisor, was responsible for Dicarlo Bennett, 28, who was also arrested for allegedly setting the devices.
One exploded in an employee bathroom; another on the tarmac. A third undetonated bottle was found later.
