The lawyer for a white Georgia police officer shown on video telling a black driver he doesn't care about "your people" says his client did nothing wrong aside from being rude to the motorist.

Attorney Lance LoRusso tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (on-ajc.com/1Zaix8x) there's no evidence that race motivated the actions of Cobb County police officer Maurice Lawson during the Nov. 16 traffic stop outside Atlanta.

LoRusso says the Cobb County Attorney's Office has completed its investigation into recommended discipline for the officer. He wouldn't say what the recommendation is, but he called it "grossly excessive." The officer has until Wednesday to respond.

Cobb County police Capt. J.D. Adcock has apologized to the driver, Brian Baker, telling him in a letter that Lawson violated the police department's code of conduct.
