A grand jury in Georgia has indicted a former police officer accused of falsely claiming that a gunman shot her.

Local media report Sherry Hall was indicted Tuesday on 11 counts, including making false statements, violating her oath of office and interference with government property.

Hall had worked for the Jackson Police Department. She told WSB-TV Wednesday she is innocent of all charges.

Authorities have said Hall radioed for help early Sept. 13, saying she'd been shot. Hall, who is white, told investigators a black suspect ran into the woods. Police initially said Hall was shot in the abdomen but her bulletproof vest protected her.

Authorities said just over a week later that investigators determined Hall wasn't a victim of a shooting and there was never a suspect at large.
