He’s an accused burglar – and a mama’s boy.
An admitted drug addict is charged with desperately trying to rob three Flatiron District banks so he could repay money he stole from his mother, according to a new complaint filed in Manhattan federal court.
Daniel Steven Bertini, 39, was caught on surveillance video using a crowbar to unsuccessfully break into the tellers’ areas at KeyBank on East 22nd Street around 4:30 a.m. Monday and a Park Avenue South Bank of America about 25 minutes later, the court papers say.
But after coming up empty-handed at both locations, he then fled several block to a Chase bank on Sixth Avenue near West 18th Street and managed to swipe about $915 in coins, documents state.
Cops caught up with Bertini at the Chase, where he resisted arrest, the papers said. Bertini suffered two cuts to his own head, requiring stitches.
