MINEOLA, N.Y. – Suburban New York police have arrested a man on charges he kept a woman and a 15-year-old girl captive for months and forced them to work as prostitutes.
Suffolk County Police say the 21-year-old woman was held for over a year. The teenager was allegedly held for about four months.
Police say 35-year-old Andy Gayot was arrested Tuesday at his Lindenhurst home. He was facing arraignment Wednesday on prostitution, rape, unlawful imprisonment, weapons and drug charges. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
Authorities refused to say anything about the condition or whereabouts of the women.
Police, probation officers and FBI agents went to the house because of a probation department warrant. Authorities did not immediately say why the warrant had been obtained.
