A spokesman for a central North Carolina university says the campus is on lockdown while police search for a person who displayed a gun inside a student activities center.

Winston-Salem State University spokesman Aaron Singleton said campus police were notified around 9:30 p.m. Monday that an "interaction" in the Donald J. Reaves Center led to a person displaying a gun. The campus was put on lockdown just after 9:45 p.m.

Singleton says there is no indication shots were fired. There were no reports of injuries.

The campus remains on lockdown more than two hours later while police look for the suspect. Singleton says it's not clear whether that person is a student.
