A federal judge has denied bail for a New Hampshire woman charged with lying about her role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide.

Forty-year-old Beatrice Munyenyezi (Moon-YEN'-yezzy) of Manchester has been in custody since June, when she was indicted for lying on applications to enter the United States in 1995 and to obtain citizenship.

Federal prosecutors say she ordered rapes and murders of Tutsis (TOOT'-seez) during the 1994 genocide that killed up to 800,000 people.

Her lawyers had asked for her to be released on bail, saying she would not flee the state or her three teenage daughters.

But the judge ruled that while she is not a danger to the community, Munyenyezi does pose a serious flight risk.
