New York Man Kills Infant Son, Shot by State Police

VIENNA, N.Y. -- State police say a man fatally shot his 3-month-old son in front of troopers before being shot and wounded by officers outside an upstate New York home.

They say 21-year-old Adam Theall was outside the home in rural Oneida County when troopers arrived after getting 911 calls at about 9:30 a.m. that he had threatened to kill the child.

State Police Capt. Francis Coots says one of three troopers arriving on the scene saw him fire a shotgun at Ethan Theall and then turn the gun on the troopers, who all fired at him.

Adam Theall was hit several times and is in critical condition. Police had been called for domestic disputes at the house in the past. The child's mother was in the home during the attack in Vienna, about 200 miles northwest of New York City.
