MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. – Police on New York's Long Island arrested a man early Sunday after allegedly finding crack cocaine in his car along with his eight-year-old daughter.
David Kruger, 41, was driving in Massapequa, N.Y., at around 2:38am local time when he was pulled over for a defective brake light, the Nassau County Police Department said in a press release. His daughter was sitting in the back seat of the car.
The officer who initiated the traffic stop noticed a clear plastic bag apparently containing crack cocaine sticking out of a cigarette pack on the passenger seat.
Kruger was taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, endangering the welfare of a child and operating a vehicle with defective brake lights. He is scheduled to be arraigned later Sunday.
His daughter was released into her mother's custody.
