A New Yorker has been sentenced to two years behind bars for crashing a powerboat into a barge, killing a bride-to-be and her fiance's best man.

In court Tuesday, Jojo John told the victims' families that he'd give up his own life if it could bring them back.

He pleaded guilty in June to vehicular manslaughter and admitted that he was drunk at the time.

In July 2013, his boat crashed into a barge on the Hudson River that was part of the construction of a new Tappan (TAP'-uhn) Zee Bridge. The impact killed Lindsey Stewart and Mark Lennon.

The wedding would have been two weeks later.

John's lawyer has insisted the crash was caused by a lack of lighting on the barge. The Coast Guard says the barge was properly lighted.
