A New Mexico woman has been laid to rest after her cremated remains were found in an unlocked shed containing lawnmowers at a western Pennsylvania cemetery.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports (http://bit.ly/1gT2DR6 ) the ashes of 73-year-old Barbara Waggoner were buried Tuesday next to her parents at Charleroi Cemetery.

Waggoner's ashes were discovered Saturday by a volunteer worker.

Funeral Director George Hogan says he paid $400 in November to the presumed owner of the cemetery to bury the remains. Waggoner died in 2014 in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone says his office is investigating the incident and the cemetery itself.

Attempts to contact Waggoner's family were unsuccessful.
