Neighbors are shocked and saddened one day after learning a southern New Jersey man apparently killed his wife and their young son before killing himself.

Authorities say 49-year-old Francis Adolf left writings indicating he intended to harm himself and family members, but they did not provide further details.

Pitman police found the bodies of Adolf; his 44-year-old wife, Bonnie; and the couple's 6-year-old son, Francis Jr., in their home Tuesday.

John Klose told The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill (http://on.cpsj.com/1a4ikyQ ) his neighbors were a nice couple and the child was a "bright little boy" who was friends with his grandson.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton says investigators are working to determine the cause and manner of deaths.

Dalton said there was no reported domestic violence history involving the Adolfs.
