Mystery Surrounds Disappearance of Indiana Woman

An Indiana woman's sudden disappearance has baffled family members and investigators, who found her vehicle abandoned along a national lakeshore Monday night, Fox 59 reports.

Park officials at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore said they located a van belonging to 47-year-old Roxanne Shah, shortly after the Indianapolis woman left a bizarre note to her husband, according to the station.

"We just wish she would give us a call and let us know she's okay because we're worried about her," Shah's husband, Tony Vivaldi, told the station.

Vivaldi said the last time he received communication from his wife was on Monday.

"I had found a note from Roxanne that told me not to worry about her, that she wanted to get away for a few days and get her head cleared," he said. "And that she was going to stay at a state park possibly down south."

Vivaldi said he wasn't immediately concerned for his wife after reading the note because it was not unlike her to leave on her own for hikes, even in cold weather.

Bit Vivaldi said he became alarmed when police came to his home and told him they found her van at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, north of Indianapolis. His wife was nowhere to be found, they said.

"What's uncommon is for her to leave the vehicle broken down somewhere without being in contact with somebody," he said.
