Multiple agencies responding to hostage situation at gas station in suburban San Francisco

ANTIOCH, Calif. – Multiple law enforcement agencies are responding to a hostage situation at a Northern California gas station.

Television news helicopters show police officers surrounding an Arco gas station in the San Francisco suburb of Antioch on Wednesday afternoon. Many of the officers have their guns drawn.

Antioch police Sgt. Tom Fuhrmann says hostages have been taken but no other details are immediately available.

It's unclear how many hostages or hostage takers there are, or what led to the standoff.

The California Highway Patrol has closed exits and onramps to a nearby highway.
