Mother of man set ablaze on bus in Oakland says son requires major surgeries, long recovery

The mother of a Northern California man set on fire while riding on a bus says her son has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

Debbie Fleischman told the Oakland Tribune (http://bit.ly/17F493C) on Tuesday her son will require massive skin grafting as she is torn about whether he was targeted because of his attire.

Police say 18-year-old Luke "Sasha" Fleischman was asleep and wearing a kilt-like piece of clothing when it was set ablaze by another passenger on an AC Transit bus Monday in Oakland.

Luke Fleischman was listed in stable condition at a San Francisco hospital after suffering second- and third-degree burns on his legs.

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. His name has not been released.
