An Ohio woman who found her son's cremated remains in a plastic shopping bag inside an urn says she's filing complaints with authorities about how a Kentucky funeral home handled the ashes.

Nancy Bronner of Amelia tells WCPO-TV she opened the urn after the teenager's death last September and discovered the remains in a Walmart bag.

Bob McDaniel of McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, Ky., says the family asked to divide the ashes but provided containers that didn't seal and had no bags, so he used what he had. McDaniel says he cut the bags so they didn't show any store name or logo.

The boy's father, Thomas Mitchell, says it may have been poor judgment but wasn't malicious. Mitchell says he's kept the ashes in the bag.
