A mother and her two daughters were killed when a pickup truck slammed into the flat-bed trailer taking the family on a Halloween hayride in Mississippi, investigators confirmed.

The crash in the small town of Chunky killed 33-year-old Kristina Shaver and her daughters, 8-year-old Baylie and 2-year-old Brooke, Mississippi Highway Patrol Capt. Johnny Poulos told The Associated Press. Several other people were reported hurt on Monday night.

Newton County Coroner Danny Shoemaker said two people died at the scene and the other died while waiting for a hospital helicopter.

Poulos said six other people on the hayride were in critical condition after paramedics rushed them to hospitals in Meridian and Jackson.
