Montenegrin police say they have extradited to the United States two foreign nationals wanted for arms-trafficking and for smuggling 200 kilograms (440 pounds) of cocaine.

Police said Friday that 49-year-old G.M. from Turkey and 50-year-old S.K. from Syria were handed over to the U.S. authorities on Thursday.

The two were arrested last April following a months-long joint operation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

Police say the suspects are accused of supplying an international criminal organization active in the U.S., Mexico and Western Europe with cocaine and "large quantities of destructive weapons."
