Officials in Miami say responders to a recent fender-bender found an infant on the roadside with its mother nearby, semi-conscious and incoherent.

Miami Police Lt. Freddie Cruz tells local news outlets the 2-month-old baby was out of the car and strapped in a car seat when Miami Fire Rescue arrived at the scene of the crash Monday afternoon. The baby's mother was nearby on the grass.

An unidentified man was unconscious and slumped over the steering wheel.

Cruz says the unharmed 2-month-old child was taken to a nearby fire station. The baby girl's father showed up to the station later in the evening but the girl was put in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
