Republican political consultant Mary Matalin has accepted an appointment as a visiting distinguished lecturer in political science at Loyola University of New Orleans.

The university said Monday that Matalin will work with President Kevin Wildes to develop public lectures and discussions with national speakers on current issues facing the nation.

Loyola's Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society is planning to work with Matalin in the spring on a talk to explore the current political climate in the U.S. and its effect on jobs.

Matalin has worked for several former presidents and was chief of staff for the Republican National Committee. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of Threshold Editions and has been a political contributor to CNN since 2009. She is married to Democratic political strategist James Carville.
