Police in Boston are crediting a 22-year-old Marine with taking down a robbery suspect who broke into a family vehicle full of presents.
The Marine, who did not want any public recognition for his actions, was working a "Toys for Tots" detail in the city's Financial District Saturday night when the incident took place, the Boston Herald reports.
"Clearly, he was doing double duty, picking up Toys for Tots and assisting us in apprehending a breaking and entering suspect. Good for him," Boston Police Officer Eddy Chrispin told the newspaper.
The owners of the vehicle told police that when they returned to their SUV parked in the city at around 5 p.m. Saturday, they saw the alleged thief sitting in the driver's seat, "rummaging through it," according to the newspaper.
The suspect, 48-year-old Albert Dionizio, then took off on foot before being nabbed by the Marine, who was reportedly in full uniform and loading donated toys into a nearby van.
"The Marine held the suspect until officers arrived on scene a couple minutes later," police said. "The suspect was chased from the car before he had a chance to steal any items."
