Marine aircrew rescued from sea still hospitalized
SAN DIEGO – Two Marines rescued from the Pacific Ocean after ejecting from their crashing jet remain hospitalized in San Diego in serious but stable condition.
Lt. Chad Hill said Friday it is unclear when the men will go home from the Naval Medical Center.
The spokesman at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar says he cannot release details of their injuries.
The crew members' names also are being withheld.
The Marines were flying an F/A-18 Hornet that went down late Wednesday 85 miles southwest of San Diego.
They spent four hours in the dark, chilly Pacific Ocean, yelling and blowing a whistle before a Coast Guard crew spotted them.
The crash is under investigation.
